Ivermectin and Panacur?

Sandra

Warren Scout
Hi, both my buns got ear mites little over a week ago. It was a little scab on the ear (same place, same ear on both bunnies). Buns got Ivermectin injections last Sunday and then again yesterday. They will get their last injection next Sunday. The itching stopped a day after the first injection, the scabs did not get bigger and it has already fallen off the Mús and is about to fall off Roger.

I ordered Panacur and finally had a friend bring it to Jordan. My question it, does the Ivermectin also work on internal worms and parasites? Or should I start a 9 day dosage? I am planning to give them the Panacur just to be on the safe side. They have not shown any symptoms.

Thanks

If your buns have never had panacur I would be inclined to do a one-off 28 day course of Panacur - to control any potential EC and at the same time it will deal with any worms or intestinal parasites.
As far as i'm aware Ivermectin is really only effective against skin mites/parasites (but I could be wrong). If you've got the Panacur anyway then I would give them both a 28 day course to rule out as much as possible for the future. :)

(I would use a probiotic too though - especially as your girl had stasis the other day. Being an anti-parasitic, Panacur can upset the caecal balance too, I'm certain it did with my bun)
