Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Panacur question

Hiya
I have a quick question about panacur, one of mine (charlie) had a head tilt in feb and the vet prescribed panacur for 28 days and I also gave my other rabbit a 28 day course as a precaution (she has been having it every 6 months aswell anyway) and luckily they are both fine and no head tilt or anything now. But I have just got another rabbit who hasnt had it yet, vet said he can start it, but I forgot to pick one up on friday so will be picking one up either this friday or before if I have a chance, but what I want to know is Charlie a carrier, as my sister said something about that even though he is ok he can still be a carrier of the disease, and she tells me this now after I have let Charlie have a sniff around Digit, and now I am worried my little guy will get it :( Or once they have been treated does that mean they arent a carrier or anything?
Thanks for any replies :)

Are you intending to bond the new Rabbit with the other two ?

If so then I would treat ALL THREE again (28 day course, bleach clean environment days 21 and 28 of treatment) AFTER they are bonded.

If you do not intend to bond the new Rabbit with your other two then I would just treat him with a 28 day course now and ensure that he does NOT share any areas used by your other two unless said areas can be bleach cleaned before and after new Rabbit uses them- ie avoid the sharing of a grass based run.

You can buy Panacur online

Personally I prefer to use the Panacur 10% liquid (exactly the same active ingredient -Fenbendazole) as it is easier to achieve an acurate dose (0.2ml/kg/day) and is alot more economical when treating several Rabbits.
