What is the most effective Glucosamine for bunny arthritis?

Was just wondering what people are using. I have been using granuals from Cures for the past couple of months, however, I can't see any huge improvements for Herbert.....unless it's just not getting any worse!

Was thinking about using a liquid form. Synflex has been suggested. Are there any others available and what would be the dose for a 2.85kg bunny?

My vet suggested trying Arthri-Aid for one of our rabbits and my dog. The dose is the same as for a cat. However I have not seen much improvement on either the rabbit or the dog. Glucosamine does take a long time to take effect, and some people have loads of success using it.
There is some recent research though that suggests it could be a waste of time.
It is not harmful so its worth a try.

I have done a bit of research though into herbal remedies for arthritis (not tried them though) and bladderwrack (a seaweed) seems to help lots of types of arthritis - not sure if its safe for rabbits but if it is you can get it in powder form.
 
I've not used it with bunnies, but I've always been wary of the fact that it is shellfish-derived (ie with them being vegetarians). As I understand it though, you can buy vegetarian glucosamine now. Might be worth a consideration, or not relevant at all!
 
I think the fact that it is shellfish derived is one of the reasons my vets don't agree with its use on bunnies :? But there are definately some vegetarian alternatives around
 
I've used Fresh & Wild Vegetarian Glucosamine capsules in the past. I would break the capsules up, and sprinkled a little bit on the food each day.

One of my rabbits didn't really show any signs of improvement, but that was because we found out later he had other complications as well. However, two others seemed to be more comfortable with it's use, and showed slight improvements. I would use it again, cos I think any improvement is better than none. But it's a bit on the expensive side - I think you could probably get it cheaper elsewhere.
 
You could also try avoid feeding him anything that may make it worse, such as tomatoes and peppers (there's also potatoes and aubergines, but it's unlikely you feed those anyway).
