  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Worried about Jims

I am a bit concerned about Jims, hubby and I were meant to be going out for the day but I am too worried to leave Jims on his own all day so we have not gone out afterall.
I found some very small (Status sized poops) poops in his potty amoungst his normal healthy sized poops, he ate his breakfast but was not quite as enthusiastic about it as normal and I do not know if this is me just peicing it together before it has been finalised but he does not seem quite himself.
Going to keep a close eye on him over the next few hours and if no better will give the vets a call.

I hope Jims is ok now. It does sound as though it could be the start of something, e.g stasis. Did you have to call the vet in the end?
Make sure he is warm enough as if his is poorly he may not be able to maintain his body temperature.

Touch wood after a lot of napping he has picked up, has not had a problem eating today so that is good, I did call the vets and mention the small poops and they said keep an eye on him and see how he goes obviously if he shows any other signs then we will take him in.
