Default Rabbit Abscess?? REALLY WORRIED. Advice Please....

My beautiful bunny Tallulah-Belle has this strange growth thing on her mouth/under her nose, the vets don't open for another 7 hours, I called emergency vets and its £165 consultation fee. She's eating and pooping ok. Her poor mouth just looks so sore, I think itís an abscess, but Iíve not had any experience of one before. Need some advice from some bunny mummies out there...or daddies. I am calling the Vet at 8am sharp.

    Here's a photo of her... http://s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww319/sara0099/

The photo does not look like an abscess to me

    Are her genitals swollen ?

Vet checked out her teeth but said they were fine. My first thought was her teeth.

Yep she's had her myxomatosis jab and is due for another towards end of November. Genitals not swollen.

The vets I went to isn't my usual vets and although the vet I just saw is a lovely guy, I don't think rabbits are his thing, he kept looking in rabbit reference books and said he'd never seen anything like it. He's booked me in to see a specialist on Monday, and I have also now booked an appointment at our usual vets at 2pm so hopefully I'll get some answers.

Poor little girl. I hope it all goes ok at the vets this afternoon. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious and easily treatable. Sending good vibes....

Sometimes just the mouth or nose is effected and not the genitals.

Aww the poor wee thing. she does look very sore.
Ok dont laugh... could it be an allergic reaction? Maybe to something she has eaten?

Bunny update. Took her to vets this morning, not happy so took her to our regular vet this afternoon and...I heard what I'd been dreading... it's myxomatosis . Thankfully it's just a mild case and she will recover. Vet said this was the second bunny in a few weeks she'd seen with it.

This is why getting the myxi vaccine is sooo important; it really has saved Tallulah's life. Her next myxomatosis jab is due in 5 weeks and I will get her and her cutie-pie sister done every 6 months from now on..
