Surgery is certainly an option and is the best course of action to acheive a cure or long-term remission, but it is very major surgery and there are risks attached. I wouldn't contemplate this until...
That's really good to know, definitely sounds a potential good option for bunnies. Can I ask how your mum finds it as pain relief?
Marie
I've not used gabapentin for GI related pain, more for true neurogenic pain but have not had any adverse effects in any bunnies so a trial course to see if it is beneficial might be an idea....
Small world! ;)
I know of one in South Birmingham who board bunnies and GPs and are very clued up:

When I last spoke to the company producing it they seemed to be planning on unveiling it at the big vet conference in April so we may still have to wait a little while before getting enough info to...
Jane, if you p-m me an email address then I can send you the papers I have on my home computer,

Hi,
I hope by diarrhoea the vets mean he is passing soft poos. If it is true diarrhoea then it is a much more serious situation - young rabbits need aggressive fluids, toxin binders, syringe feeding...
No problem, glad he is settling back into home life, hope Ted is giving him some peace tonight!

The tooth will eventually fall out but this is the end result of dental disease where the root is gradually damaged by pressure and stops growing. The pulpectomy is seen as a kind of bypass for the...
Seems rapid with normal eating and behaviour within 24hrs (all on pain relief though obviously).
The tooth will not have ongoing replacement so will become worn down and eventually become loose and...
They do work, but be aware rabbit skin is thinner than humans on the ear and it is easy to also catch your finger if holding the ear underneath where you are pricking. Painful and also makes your...

Hi,
Unfortunately it's not the miracle cure we all want for every dental case. It is only practical for spurs on the lower molar teeth and is a procedure only a few vets are doing. Good results so...
Judy,
you were exactly right to contact your GP - they know you and can appreciate risk for your individual situation and give you objective guidance. We still need more results to know the human...
Hi,
Christobel will be able to talk you through the best pain relief option for him as it will depend on whether there is nerve involvement and any other factors in his health that affect drug...

I use tramadol quite frequently in rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas with pain that is not controlled by non-steroidals like metacam, or where NSAIDs can't be used due to other health issues. It...
There are literally thousands of possible tumour types- each with different characteristics of local spread, distant spread, speed of growth, response to chemotherapy, response to cryotherapy etc...
It really would depend on whether there were changes present that affected spinal movement or lower leg movement as immediately after surgery these areas are under more pressure and existing...
Hi Judy,
Also there is much less trauma to surrounding tissue as you don't need good visualisation of/interference with other structures, just to be able to physically contact the femoral neck...
A FHO is nowhere near as invasive as a transplant. The surgery involves a 1 inch long wound and takes about half an hour. Bunnies tend to cope really well after - a sore hip before surgery means that...
Hip replacements are not available for rabbits currently and because of the differing forces on a rabbit hip compared to a dog/cat it is unlikely that they will ever be suitable candidates for this...
