  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Thanks. They found a clump under his tail which was very hard to see. There is slight urine scald. He has 2.8 mg baytril twice daily, 20mg dose metacam once daily plus rear guard. Got to ring vet on Thursday to update. Poor boy.

Wow giving three syringe fulls to a 7kg bun was fun ...

They like the ribena though I dont think D likes me!

UPDATE: he was so wet this morning

:-(

Really worried now. Poor boy was really, really wet this morning.

I have just spoken to the vet. He thinks there is a chance he has e-cunniculi as that sometimes makes them wee and get urine scald. He doesn't have a head tilt or anything. The vet is going to order in some treatment for that in case so it is ready. He said that I need to give D'Argo a bath and put vaseline on the area which should help to keep it clean and not too sore. If he gets worse, I need take him down this pm. If not, I will need to ring the vet tomorrow.

I am really scared now :-(

Please can I have more vibes for my wonderful boy. He hates me at the moment for giving him the medicine but I'm hoping he'll come and play in a minute :-(.

Thanks. He wasnt so wet later so didnt take him back today. Managed to get all meds in too.

Hoping tomorrow brings improvement for my fluffy monster.
