  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fenbendazole ( Panacur ) and EC

Erm...my experience with a torticollis bunny says otherwise. :? I'm sure Mimzy wouldn't have recovered without it.

Things that make you go, "Hmm."

I still hate that such experimentation is ongoing. Wish we could find out these answers in a more animal friendly way. :(

I think many would agree with you, although I have to say that it has not been my experience.

Very interesting!

When I had my bunnies, I used to see improvements in symptoms within a very short time of taking it, but they would soon relapse after the course was over.

My (rabbit savvy) vet has always been an advocate of giving a preventative course, so I'm glad he was right :) I suspect that like most things where there's 'no significant effect', it's a case that half do well and half have no effect, or maybe even some do worse. I suspect the guidance won't change with treatment, as it doesn't seem to cause detrimental side effects in most cases IIRC? And even if only 10% of bunnies see true improvement, that's still worth doing.

Yes we've been given a course of pancur for a new bunny previously.

I didnt really realise at the time as our non savvy vet said it was for worming and we just agreed as they were our first buns.
