Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bertie out of sorts - moult related

susie bun

Wise Old Thumper
Poor Bertie has just stopped eating. He's moulting and I noticed a poo with a tail of fur earlier today. He was still eating and pooing quite late on this evening so hopefully he wil pick up again. Unfortunately there is nothing I can really do at the moment as Bertie has firmly installed himself under a chair in the room of his sleeping grandparents!

Any spare vibes or prayers from nocturnal or early morning RUers would be appreciated!

Poor Bertie :( we've had some fur related issues here recently too, I hate moulting times for this.

Sending him so many vibes xx

Sending feel better and eating vibes for Bertie. It is much harder when this kinda thing happens in the middle of the night or wee morning hours. It can feel so lonely.

Thank you both. Bertie has returned to his own room so easier for me to monitor. He hasn't eaten yet but is having a groom and scratch! Perhaps he is offended by my attempts to brush him earlier today...

I just saw this and glad he is doing better. My Heidi gave me a scare two days ago followed my a huge pile of poo after passing two poo that were mostly fur-and she is done with most shedding.
Sending vibes Bertie continues to improve.

Sorry to hear this, poor Bertie, hope he's feeling bit better this morning and eating and pooing ok. Lots of vibes for you Bertie bun xxx

Poor Bertie has a bald patch on his bum. I must have overdid the Zoom groom. It is only supposed to remove loose fur as it is made from flexible silicone.
