Please can anyone give me contact details of any Rabbit Specialists that are as close to Northamptonshire as possible as Dylan is an horrendous traveller! Also if the specialist does phone consultations with Vets? Looking very likely my Vet is going to refer Dylan so need Specialist details...

    How Common Are Gastric Ulcers?

One of my Vets think Dylan might have gastric ulcers (has put him on Zantac) however another Vet thinks it is unlikely as he seems to pick up when he's on Metacam, which in their opinion he wouldn't do if there was an ulcer as the Metacam in theory would irritate it (due to the type of med that...

What Diagnostic Tests Are Available For Rabbits?

I wanted to know what diagnostic tests are available in most veterinary practices for rabbits? I know Blood tests & X-rays are but am not sure of any others? For example, I assume endoscopes are not one, as rabbits do not have the same reflex as dogs & cats do as they can't be sick?

    Too Old To Neuter/Bond?

I am considering getting Dylan a friend to bond with but am wondering if its not realistic due to his age. He is four & a half & is presently un neutered. Is it silly of me to put him through a big operation & attempt a bond with him? Should I just leave him be as he is or risk it? Has anyone...

    Q's for Rescues & Boarders-Help!

I'm seeking answers from those who run Rabbit Rescues or Boarding Establishments... My questions are: - Would you allow a rescue rabbit to be re homed with an E.C bunny? Or would it be viewed as being a no-no? - Would a boarding establishment accept an E.C bunny or view him as being 'a risk'...

    E.C questions!

My rabbit was treated for suspected E.C earlier this year & is now on Panacur every 3 months. He never had the blood test hence why it's 'suspected'. Can an E.C rabbit be bonded or is it not safe to do so? Will he always be classed as an 'E.C positive' bunny even though he was treated? Is it...

    Set-up Ideas For This Space?

Suggestions appreciated for this set-up space to house a rabbit (see photo below). It is approx 8ft X 6ft: This is Dylan's set-up next to the space (I'm contemplating getting another rabbit in the near future with the possibility of eventually bonding them with Dylan, hence my question)...

    Panacur Overdose! So upset!

I accidentally gave Dylan a Panacur overdose today - I estimate he had just over half a tube full. Rang Vet & he said to keep an eye on him but that he should be ok. Have done some research on the Internet & it seems to be the general opinion that even with an overdose the Panacur shouldn't have...

    E.Cuniculi - Less Common Symptoms?

I know the common symptoms of E.Cuniculi are head tilt, limb paralysis, rolling etc but what are the less common ones? I ask because although Dylan has none of the above he is being treated for suspected E.C as he has had tummy problems, urinary spotting, weight loss & lack of...

    E.Cuniculi Disinfecting Questions

Dylan is being treated for suspected E.Cuniculi (with Panacur begun yesterday). I've since learnt that you also need to disinfect all bunny areas. However...can you do this with any other product apart from bleach? I'm very concerned about using bleach - apart from it being very strong I'm...

Desperate for Willow Leaf & Hawthorn Supply!

Am desperate for Willow & Hawthorn Leaf as my stock is running very low as Dylan is poorly atm & is being encouraged to eat by offering him his favourite foods - Willow & Hawthorn leaf being two of them. Does anyone have any that they can spare? Am willing to pay or make a donation to a bunny...

Picking at Food *He's Baffled Vet! Help!

Dylan has the Vet baffled as he hasn't stopped eating altogether but is not eating normally either! All started over a week ago with a suspected bloat/stasis attack-for a few days before this he'd not eaten much hay (not normal for him). After Vet treatment he seemed better but...still was only...

Tummy Buns-Persuading Vet To Give Meds/Do Tests?

I know some owners of buns that are prone to bouts of tummy problems (bloat/stasis/gas etc) have tummy meds 'on standby' at home (metaclopromide/zantac etc) to use if they see their rabbits exhibiting typical tummy problem symptoms, but how do you persuade your Vet to give them to you? All I...

    Limited Poos During Day-Normal?

I know in the wild rabbits would poo mostly at night but is this the same with domestic rabbits generally? Since I've not been able to get hold of Dylan's favourite hay ('Ings') he doesn't seem to eat his hay during the daytime. This is somewhat annoying as I feel it has affected his 'poo...

    Fibreplex-Use Longterm?

After Dylan suffered 2 nasty bouts of bloat (causes unknown) at the beginning of the month his Vet advised it would be worth giving him a dose once a day of 'Fibreplex' to help his stomach. I have been doing this but as it is working out quite costly I'm now wondering if it's safe to keep...
