8 Month Speyed female becoming aggressive over food

My single boy Thumper was bonded with a female named Tumble in September last year. He was 16 months at the time and she was 4 months. He was a single house bunny before that due to a failed bond with my other male (also rebonded with a female and house bunnies). In September we put all four...

    Long-term boarding - Panacur?

My buns are going into boarding accommodation for six months whist we move back in with the in-laws to save for a new house. I don't regularly give them Panacur but is it recommended to give them a course in this circumstance? And if so, for how long? Going to miss them like mad :(

Looks like I have a dental bun on my hands...

For the past two months Buster has been doing great, hates being touched by me again (obviously feeling better!!) no more incontinence and drinking a fairly normal amount for him. Where he had been drinking so much due to the pain it was causing incontinence (he has a weak bladder too)...

    Frozen tea-towels!

I decided to dampen a couple of tea towels, fold them in half and freeze them! Turns out the bunnies love laying on them to keep cool!! Tides them over whilst their ice pods are refreezing :)

Buster just choked on new pellets!

Oh my goodness I am all in a spin, so scary to see. I am (was) in the process of changing him from the vetcare urinary tract pellets to the oxbow essentials bunny basics T pellets. He needs to be on a low calcium pellet but the vet doesn't want him on one with diuretic properties as he has a big...

Incontinent bunny pulling out matted fur?

Buster had his first dental yesterday and since having pre-op metacam his bottom has been dry :thumb: Already his water intake has reduced and I'm really hoping we've got to the bottom of things. Anyway, I just saw all this fluff on the floor and thought he'd been digging at the carpet (hasn't...

A Day in the Life of Thumper...

Chilling out... Sleepy time in his box (had to be taken away as he was eating it instead of hay!) Hiding behind the sofa Jumped into his cage just after I'd cleaned it and......FLOP!! Oooohhh look I found noms!!! Bye bye!!xx

    Sharing 'territory' with Thumper?

Thumper lives free range in our open plan living room and kitchen. He has an indoor cage in the corner that has his litter tray, big pile of hay and his shelf that he loves napping on. In front of his cage he has two blankets (covering laminate floor) tunnels, pop-up tent, water bowl and toys...

    Stasis? Bloat? Pain?

I gave thumper his evening pellets about an hour ago. Ate the lot as usual. Then started changing position rapidly, clearly can't get comfortable, even rolled over. Knew he wasn't behaving normally. Offered two types of pellet, carrot, water, water with added pro-c probiotic (usually loves the...

How far away is your vets?

I have been taking Buster to our local vet (5 minutes drive away) for the past few months. It is only now he's been referred to an exotics specialist I realise just how good they are. Only thing is they are a 30 minute drive away. However, after a very thorough examination and an array of tests...

Every time I go to the vets.....

I feel like a bad bunny mum :( My two hate being handled. I don't push it, they will come to me for a cuddle and love being stroked. They just don't want to be picked up! Am I wrong in just letting them do their own thing? Or should I push the handling? Of course they are a nightmare every...

Pair or trio- what will work best?

Buster and thumper will be bonded soon and I'm really desperate for it to work. For the bunny psychologists here (I don't have a clue!) is a bond more likely to work between the two boys alone or if a female were added to the group? Aren't females more likely to assume "top bun"? I know I'm...

Any rescues in Surrey/South London need volunteers?

    Lonely bunsters :-(

My boys look so lonely sometimes :-( Really hope the bond works in March when they go to the lovely Karen :D I need to start thinking about a new setup soon for them to come home to. Hmmmm....

    Soft fecal pellets

Buster's poos are always very large and crumbly as he eats so much hay. But I've noticed recently that they are slightly softer than they used to be. Twice now I have noticed a significant cecal type smell in the litter tray but no uneaten caecals. Could Panacur be the cause? He had his last...

    Holiday Arrangements for buns

We are going away for 10 days at Easter, usually when we are away the in-laws come over once a day and replenish their hay, litter tray, water and feed them. This time I've made arrangements for the local rabbit hotel to come round and feed them both once a day and check on them. However, the...

    Getting spot-on on rabbits head?

Buster moved as I was doing his spot-on today and some of it went on the top of his head! Will it be ok? Would it irritate his skin there? They both hate having it done, neither are my friend right now :(

Buster is on the mend at last!

I'm so relieved! He is no longer incontinent, has a completely dry bum and his fur is back to normal. No more teeth grinding, he has put on 170g in 3 weeks after losing 100g in previous weeks. Coat is lovely and soft and shiny. And best of all he is whizzing round, binkying and then flopping...

Dry bum after 8 days panacur....

Buster has now been having Panacur for eight days and has been dry for a few days now, no more dribbling :) He's been on Propalin about 2 weeks also but we didn't really see an improvement until the panacur started. Despite having a negative EC titre I just wanted to try the Panacur and...

Low calcium foods that won't cause gas?!

Just wondering if anyone can give any advice about the diet I am giving Buster, he is still baffling us with his symptoms. The main ones are high levels if calcium carbonate crystals in the urine, incontinence (and wet bum), excessive drinking, excessive urinating and a grumbly tum. Poos are...
