    bonding babies with older male

Hi, I have a 5 year old male bunny who has just lost his lady friend. My local rescue has no older single girls at the moment but they do have some babies. Would it be possible to bond two babies with him so that the new bun wouldn't be left on its own in a few years time? Would 2 females work...

    House rabbits and children

Hi! Does anyone have house rabbits and young children, particularly French lops? Do they get on ok? I already have two outdoor rabbits but would love an indoor one aswell! Thanks!

    flystrike products

Thanks everyone for the advice, I agree keeping the environment clean etc is the best preventative measure, so as mine are low risk bunnies I think, I'll probably do that. Santa, What do you mean by a low protein/carbohydrate diet? Mine are on pellets and hay and a small amount of mostly green...

    flystrike products

Hi! Can anyone recommend any flystrike preventative treatments other than Rearguard? I used Rearguard last year and I know it's supposed to be good but it's quite pricey. Is there anything just as good but cheaper? Thanks!

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

Hi Carob, Polly is much better than she was. On Monday it'll be 3 weeks since the symptoms started and she improved quite a bit about a week ago. I found the symptoms got worse to start with though. Does your bunny have head tilt? Polly still has that but doesn't seem to be rolling any more. I...

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

Thanks for the advice! So much more helpful than the vet....anyway she's still pretty much the same. She rolls quite often and spends time just lying on her side. She can't get up very easily, but when she's up she can walk a bit but I wouldn't call it hopping. We've brought her in the house...

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

Thanks for that, it's good to hear a happy ending. It's horrible watching her roll about and there hasn't been much improvement so far, so hopefully she'll recover like your bunny did :) Do you know why they roll like that?

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

ok thanks! I will take her back to the vet and insist they give her the metacam! You might remember Polly? You matched her up with one of your bunnies, Humbug. He's doing fine, grown quite a big and a lively chap but lovely and cuddly.

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

Just an update...and could still do with some advice... Polly is still very bad with symptoms of EC, but is now eating and drinking ok, though I think she's lost weight. Her EC symptoms got worse over the first few days and have now been the same since about Friday. She has very bad head tilt...

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

I asked the vet for a painkiller (which would be anti-inflammatory) but she didn't want to giver her one in case it irritated her guts more, or at worst caused ulceration. I wasn't too convinced...I've had a rabbit with stasis before who they gave Metacam to. I don't think she's drinking much...

How to look after E Cuniculi bunny UPDATE rolling over

My bunny has been showing signs of EC since Monday. She's still not eating much, just nibbling grass and cucumber, and to start with she wasn't pooing either, though now she has loose poos. I've been to the vets twice for metoclopramide injections and I'm giving her and her boyfriend panacur and...

How to give Oxbow critical care

Question about E Cuniculi In response to "is you bunny eating?", the updated answer is she is now! She wasn't a couple of days ago and yesterday there wasn't much improvement so I took her to the vet again for some more metoclopramide and today she's eating much better, still no hay or pellets...

How to give Oxbow critical care

My rabbit has suspected E.C and she isn't eating or pooing as much as usual, just hoping she doesn't go into gut stasis...the vet gave me Oxbow critical care but I'm not sure how to get it into the bunny. It seems a big volume to syringe feed (I mixed about a quarter of the packet 1 part Oxbow...

    question on fly strike

When you check your bun you're looking for little clusters of eggs stuck to the fur around the rabbit's bottom. If these have hatched, they will initially be quite small wiggly cream coloured maggots. It's easy to spot these if you check the bun's rear end carefully. If the maggots have grown...
