  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lump in belly!

Last night i noticed a big lump inside my rex rabbit. Its on the right side of his body just behind his front leg, its hard and about the size of a golf ball! You can't see it on him only feel it. His fine in his self however i'm in panic mode till the vets opens at 8.30am and i can ringing for advice/appointment. Has anyone heard of this before?

I have no idea - are you sure it's not his ribcage? Hopefully it's nothing if he's well otherwise - I imagine with rexs having such short fur it's easier to see all the lumps and bumps I don't notice on my fluffy bunnies :)

It may be a cyst or an abscess. Or possibly an enlarged Lymph node
Good luck at the Vets, please let us know how he gets on

Going vets at 4.40pm can't get there any earlier as i work in west end, so now i'll be worrying all day:cry: I'll let you know what the vet says.
