  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I fear the worst =(

a few days ago i posted about Crystal having a swallon private area i took her to the vets and they told me not to worry as its unlikely Myxi and gave me some baytril to give her :? today i went out and Crystals eyes had a bit of sleep in and Honeys head is breaking out in sores  the sores on Honeys head actually look like blisters? shes also showing sleep in her eyes im extremly worried im taking them both to the vets for half 3.

before anyone asks their both vaccinated Crystal was done a week ago and honeys done about 3 months ago.

does this sound like Myxi to anyone?

Oh... I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it not myxi.. but if it is, as they have been vaccinated, they stand a good chance of surviving! Oh I hope its not myxi!!

omg hunni!! know we say this 2 each other all the time but i know how much u love them, i hope there okay! crossing all my bunnies paws 4 u! x x x x

the vet still isnt convinced its Myxi :? ive been given some eye ointment to put on Honeys sores. im getting them both to the good vets tomorrow for a second opinion though as their only open Tuesday-Friday. i am hoping its nothing serious though  the thought of loosing Crystal is unbarable

although for safety reasons ive isolated Honey and Crystal away from the other 3 rabbits 1 question though if it is Myxi they have can i carry it from them to 1 of my other rabbits e.g on my hands, clothes?

Myxi is spread by biting insects including fur mites, or by the snot if myxi is very advanced from one bunny to another. VHD is the one that can be carried on clothing etc. so they should be fine. Hope they are going to be OK :(
