Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hopefully I should be getting a new rescue bun within the next few weeks :D
The rescue don't vaccinate, I would get the bunny vaccinated straight away but wondering how long would you suggest to keep him/her away from my own buns ?
The new bun will hopefully be bonded with my twosome outside.

How long do the rescue quarantine from on arrival?

I would suggest a minimum of one week.

I can't quarantine new bunnies, so I ask the rescue organisation to vaccinate and then keep the bunny for another 2 weeks. That doesn't obviously cover you for all diseases, but it will at least more or less guarantee that your new bunny doesn't carry myxi or VHD.

Can you ask the rescue to vaccinate the bun before you pick it up? If you pay for the vacs it could at least be done for VHD..then you could pick it up a week later and would only need to wait another week before mxyi'ing it????

I try to keep the new arrivals away from the longer stay ones or my own for a minimum of 2 weeks as you can never tell what shows up e.g my british giant

Thanks for the replys, I'll get bun vaccinated and leave him away from my own for 2 weeks...
I could ask the rescue to vaccinate if I pay but theres things I cant go into on this forum, it wouldn't be possible for the person to vaccinate and I couldn't leave the bun there for 2 weeks without me worrying myself to death(wish I could explain more to you but I can't on this forum)
