  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hey all... i know there is always loads of questions about giving infacol but I can't remember how much people normally give..?

Bertie had a tummy ache last night so I gave him about 0.5 ml in a syringe, that's what it said for babies - is that the sort of dose others give??

I normally give 1 ml to smaller rabbits & 2 ml to the larger ones.
It`s quite safe as it isn`t actually a medication, more like an indigestion remedy that helps them pass any built up gas, so can`t really hurt them ( aslong as you`re sure it`s just trapped wind ).

Hope your bunny`s feeling better this morning.

Thank you all for your replies. Looks like I was a bit on the cautious side! At least I will know for next time.. thanks again.

One thing - and I'm only saying it as I have got muddled up on this before  not saying you have :)

It's easy to muddle up cl and ml.

0.5ml is a very small amount - 0.5cl is 10x more (5mls) - some syringes don't make it too clear what the units actually are.
