  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I went with the intention of talking to the vet about the possibility of Rolo having EC, but as soon as I metioned the back leg paralysis, she mentioned EC!
So they both have Panacur and have already had one dose when we got home, and they liked it!
But the vet only said to give 9 days even when I mentioned the whole 28days - 6 week thing. So I decided it was easier just to buy another in a week or so and continue with them both on at least a 28 day course anyway. Is that ok do you think?
Is 6 weeks better than 28days now?
I'll prob buy online on some of the places people have mentioned on here on other threads and then I'll have it for a follow up treatment in a few months.

I believe many Vets now say 6 weeks Panacur for 'active' EC

It varies from vet to vet but its always been pretty standard to treat an active infection with 28 days minimum and then to reasses.

9 days is usually for the annual preventative dose.

Hope your bunny picks up soon X

great thanks everyone.

I will give it to them for 6 weeks each to be on the safe side and then if all is well give a 9 day course in 3-6 months time.

I'm very good at bleaching now too

lol! Thanks for all the advice everyone. 6 weeks it is.

From Miss Bleach D.iB. (Diploma in Bleaching) ;) :D

(I think some of you should have M.iB though (master) lol!)
