  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Spay wound concern

Ashley

Alpha Buck
Bun was spayed last monday. She was really well after 48 hrs. Eating Drinking, Pooing and wound healing fine! (She was glued and stitched).:D

Took her for check up Thursday and they said she was great and to bring her back for stitches to come up in about a week! :D :D Last night she tried to clean the glue off herself :? :? she hadn't done much damage but looked a little sore. I've just got back from vets .

The vet removed stitches and a bit glob of glue at the base of wound. They applied some Zinc cream too. She said if she keeps licking it to put collar on her :( I've been back 20min and she is licking :( :(

What do you recomend ? Shall i get the collar straight away or see if she settles?:? :?

It's best not to use a collar as they can't eat their caecal poops and it stresses them, but if you have no choice I guess you have no choice - Has she got a bundle of fresh hay to play with?

Yes, gave her hay in her favourite tray she likes to sit in. Good idea about the veg i'll prepare it now and give her a bit at a time to keep her occupied.

Thx
