  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hair hasn't grown back?

My dwarf lop bugs got spayed in april, and where they shaved her belly no hair has grown back at all. I was at the vets on friday for a check up with my other bunny and asked the vet and she said she had never heard of the hair not growing back before but as long as she seems fine not to worry. I have never questioned my vet before as they are very good, but has anyone else had this problem before? Would it be worth getting a second option?

Just tried to get a second option and was told they can't help as i'm not register and to give a second option they need permission from my vets?!
Does anyone know of a good rabbit vet in essex who would be willing to help me?!

It will probably grow back next time she has a moult. If the op caught her just after an moult it can be a while before they grow back.

I used to live in brentwood, now I am in grays.

I use companion care in romford, two of the vets there are good, others not so much. Best freinds in romford have apparently just got a new vet started who specialises in rabbits, that may be a bit far, I don't really know the vets in brentwood too well. I used to use one on the ongar road past the robin hood pub.
