P@H Giant

I saw my first Giant in P@H yesterday in Blackburn. Priced up at £129 as a 'Giant House Rabbit'. I can't imagine anyone spending that much as the bunny is young and obviously not old enough to be neutered - she was absolutely beautiful though.

I used the opportunity to say (loudly) to someone who was looking at her that you can adopt a giant French lop from Tameside rescue at the moment for a lot less than that, and I've got my rabbits from Bunnyhops at Bolton. Don't want to waste an opportunity ;)

 Well done Kathryn! Did your family hush you up and hurry you out of the store looking mortally embarrassed though?

My mum does that! She now refuses to go in with me, so my dad and I go in and complain loudly together!

Poor bun, but as its an adult pet, at least it has an adult price, would be awful if it was going for £40! Dear knows where it will end up!

In the 'Bolton' P@H there is a giant rabbit who they have named Wolfgang:roll: he was 129.00 but it now says 69.00 he has been reduced already:rolleyes: He is gorgeous but he looks so fed up, i go to see him every week:oops:

There is a white giant rabbit at my local p@h. It has been there for sooo long I would love to get it just to make it happy because its always on its own :( however £129 is a joke!

ours have only been selling them for a short while. They had to do a bit of moving around so the Giants have enough height room, well the minimum i suppose they can get away with more like:roll:

No one ever seems to be looking at the Giants when we go in there, apart from me. The families are looking at the "cute babies". :(

Went into the Oldham store for the first time in ages. They have a German Lop on sale for £69. They've also set up an 'adoption centre' but all the pens were empty. A complete contrast to the 'bunny village' which had 14 bucks & 14 does on sale.

one pets at home near us have a giant that they have been trying to sell for £129 for about 4 months now. she is now 28 weeks old. i find it very sad that it appears most of these stores have a giant each which are clearly not being sold. i was a bit taken back when i visited a second store near us recently to see they had moved her from one store to another, in a bid to get different customers viewing her i suppose. very sad i think. i'd love to bring her home but i think she'd kill my little boy!

I disagree, if you can't afford £129 on a bun, then really I don't think you should buy them. I added up the cost of my buns and really £129 is nothing! I reckon I must have spent £1000's in the 4 years I've had them!  Plus a giant is going to need so much more space.

I think its great their sales are slow, heres hoping p@h will get the message and stop selling these poor buns!:D

The P@H near me had 5 giant rabbits for sale when I went in a few days ago... Plus all the smaller rabbits they normally have. The giants were all £129. They look young but are already the size of my 8 month old bunny

In our Pets at Home, they sell them for £129 but they are not for sale untill they reach the age when they can be spayed, there is a notice up saying this:D so they are sold at this price to cover the vets bills

They had one in Northampton this morning (me and my friend went in there to inspect and moan).

It was such a cute little thing, if I'd had £129 I'd have bought it because it looked so sad all on it's own. It had a large enclosure and places to hide but no toys.

I think it is awful that they're selling them. A family standing next to me said they didn't think it was very big for a giant, I pointed out it will be the size of a dog when it's grown up, hopefully, that has stopped them.

Its what happens to them if no-one is willing to pay the high price for them that worries me:( I agree that the price will put off impulse buying, but then they can just look in the adoption bit and impulsively adopt for a very small donation.

It is a wierd price, especially since you could go to a breeder (if not rescue) and get a giant rabbit for a fraction of the price but I do believe its as they neuter them all before rehoming. This also means the rabbits are sold as older which is not what pepole want as they want a cute baby and also I worry about the bun missing out on all the crucial socialisation stages whilst maturing in a pet shop:roll:
