  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Depressed?

Young Bun
Can Rabbits get depressed?

My bf is worried about his bunny and has said that Patch has been real quiet as of late, and doesnt seem to want to run around, and he said that Patch was laid on the floor and when my bf went up to him, Patch ran back into his hutch. Normally Patch is full of beans and follows him around.

Please help. ASAP

Yeah i think so,

My male did exactly the same thing, n then came round after a week.

They both still have their "bits" if that makes a difference

If they are living alone then i think they do get fed up and depressed. How about getting him neutered and then going to a rabbit rescue and pairing him up with a spayed female? They love being in couples and two aren't any more trouble than one :D

yeah that is a good idea, but unfortunatly we still live our parents, so i doubt they wud let him. Mine lives in my bedroom so i always try to give him some love lol.

Maybe Patch is just missing the football that he humps lol

The ball got covered in sewage rubbish as we had the floods in this area.
