Is 48inch the largest dog crate available?/opinions on these please

Mama Doe
I'm planning on buying a large dog crate for my 2 buns (dwarf lops), big enough for them to have lots of room when I am at work . The largest I have found is 48/49inches long, has anyone found a larger one? I've read the old posts on here and see some of you have added shelves or joined crates together. Just thought I would see if anyone has found a larger one before I go down the DIY route.
Thanks x:D

The largest I have seen is a 48inch one. Some people have that size then add a pen onto it. Shelves make a huge difference. Plus the 48" crates are quite tall so it's a lot of wasted space if you don't put a shelf in...or you can put a carrier/box in forthem to hop on top of.

Someone on another forum found one which was a bit bigger than the 48" ones. Bidding has finished but for an idea the crate is here
It's a couple of inches shorter but most 48" ones are only 30" deep and about 34-36" tall. You could add a second (or even third) layer to an extra tall one, but don't think I've seen any wider
Alternative is to use puppy pens but you might have to find something to cover it with if your bun's a jumper

Elsie cleared a 30inch high run panel today without much effort so she would love that!!

I think I'll plan my shelf construction, thanks Rosie Rabbit for the link. That way I can squeeze in a cupboard next to it to put their stuff in, to stop the kitchen resembling a pet shop!!

I had to lug my 2 small dog crates in from the shed yesterday and I honestly can't imagine anyone being able to carry a 48" one

They are very tall, so not only is it a good idea to put an extra level in, but put a board over the top - makes a great sideboard :p

I've adapted mine and attached a pen to it [the ones held together with the pins are great for this because you can use the pins to hold the pen to the crate]

I still think they are rather beastly looking things, but they're great price wise and seem indestructable :)

I had 2 48" ones in my bedroom - never hated our curved stairs so much as when I needed to take them up/down

Thanks for the replies, they have been really helpful. I've been browsing on ebay and wondered if any of you have either of these crates? does anyone have any good/bad points to note?

Thanks Lisa:p

Mine isn't Hagen but it's pretty much identical to it. Good points are that it's really robust, it's deeper than any cage/hutch you'll find [apart from custom ones obv] and they're easy to keep clean.

Bad points are that they are pretty heavy, hard to move if they aren't in their flatpack state, the tray doesn't have high edges so litter/wee/poop etc [depending on the litter trained status of your bun :)] can spill onto your floor  and in my opinion, they're damn ugly [but I'm kind of warming to mine :)]

Thanks Joceyln. I'm going to try and get a silver/gold one because I think they may blend into the room a bit better, or maybe not! Although have realised the Hagen one is black so I might not get that one.
