  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
As some of you may know Smudge hasnt been 100%, but took him to vets on Monday and they said his tummy felt ok and gave him his next injection cant remember what its called but its the one he has to have every year.

Went down to him last night and he is really quiet and just sitting still, eating food but not binking like his usual self. We got him out of his hutch and he was hopping around but really slowly and lifting his front leg up.

Went to him this morning and he is hopping aruond a bit more but doesnt like you picking him up?

Could this be the injection or is something else wrong?

Was i the vhd jab he had? This can give some bunnies a limp, and they can be 'offcolour' for a while afterwards. Ther was a thread on this a while back.

Difficult to say as you can't remember what he was given.
Some antibiotics can make rabbits tired, sometimes they also eat less for a time.

On the other hand, I know that mine are very quiet as well after their myxi and VHD jabs.
But as your bun also lifts his front leg, maybe he hurt himself? Have you checked his leg? VHD jabs can provoke a limp too.

It was the VHD Jab, this could explain it then, so he is eating loads.

I have checked his leg and he is weight bearing on it so thats good.

I will read the thread from a while back.

Thank you very much.

I tried searching for it, but it won't let me as the word is only 3 letters long:roll: As long as he is eating, he should be fine.
