  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Wise Old Thumper
just had a phone call from my friend saying one of her baby rex rabbits isnt 100%. he is still eating but his poops are very small and mis shapen and he was just inside for over 15 mins and didnt 'produce' anything. :?

i might be going over in a bit to try and tempt him to eat and give him some tummy rubs. is it worth taking some infacol with me and if so how much does he need? he is only about 10-12 weeks old i think :?

thanks

oops also forgot is it worth taking some basil or something? he hasnt had it before but not sure if it better to have him eating or not o change any diet.

think i also have some science recovery, should i try and get him to eat some of that?

Hope he improves..afraid i dont know much about babies so i dont know what to suggest apart from tummy rubs and if he wont eat you could try mushing his pellets with warm boiled water and try syringe feeding a little of it.

thanks :D
i went round to see him armed with infacol, science recovery food, syringes, carrot drink, hays, chopped min, fresh basil and A&P pellets. when i first got there he was in hi run eating grass so that was good :) i gave him some tummy rubs whilst i gave him a cuddle and his tummy had started off big and hard (wasnt sure if it was gas or grass  ) well anyway when he went back into his hutch he did quite a lot of poop as soon as he got in. my friend showed me the poops he had been doing and they were kind of long and thin (reminded me of hamster poop  ) but the ones he di when i was there were round and baby sized so that was good. he seemed lively and ok in himself soi think he should be ok :)
it was funny becasue one of her other buns was in the other run and he was going crazy binkying i dont think he stopped the whole time i was there

thanks again for the help, hopefully he will be better now :D

(forgot to say she had spoken to the vet and they just suggested taking his mix away and only offering hay and veg, so they didnt seem overly worried)
