  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Worried about Ginny

Hi

I am hoping you can help me.

Ginny is our english/minilop. The last couple of days she doesn't seem to be herself i.e. not running around the garden. She is still eating, drinking & pooping.

She is our bun that every now and then has a sticky bum problem and we are concerned regarding flystike. I gave her a bath last night, because she decided to flop under her hutch in wet mud and we gave her a a full check and there is no broken skin and could not see anything etc. We towelled dried her and also use a hairdryer on her (cool setting)

Her belly feels normal, she does not have a snotty/running nose.

Both Ron (her partner) and herself did get caught out in a really heavy thunderstorm at the weekend, but they did seek shelter under their hutch.

Should I take her to the vets, so wait another day to see if she perks up.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Jode

If you feel she is 'not right' then I'd take her to the Vets today. Rabbits go downhill so quickly and noticing a problem early and getting appropriate treatment can make all the difference.

Good luck :)
