Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Really worried about Mack

Snowy

Wise Old Thumper
Little Mack, as you know, has no front teeth and little stumps for his back teeth, so his chin gets wet and sore but at the moment it is terribly sore, it's the worst I've seen it, he has been on depocillan and bayril injections and dermosol cream and it doesn't seem to be doing any good, it's so sore that tonight I have given him 5 x drops of metacam, he has lost 200 grams over the last week.

I am so worried about him, I will take him to see Paula tomorrow to see if we can try anything else.

Poor Mack
I wonder if there may be a fungal element to the dermatitis rather than a bacterial one:? Maybe a Topical Fungicidal treatment is required :?

I hope Mack gets on OK today and please keep us posted

Sending lots of healing vibes to Mack. Im sure Paula will sort it out. Hugs to you Theo xxx

Maisie gets sore under her chin because she lays her head in her bowl when drinking. I use Fucidin on it when it is red and occasionally sudocrem.

I do hope Little Mack starts showing some improvement soon, he'll get the best care with you and Paula.x

Thanks Chloe, I can do without this right now!

Thanks Jane, Paula checked and no there doesn't appear to be a fungal element as yet! , but I am to keep on with the dermisol, the problem is that Mack is such a wriggle bum that when I am trying to put the cream on I don't always get it where I want it, but the place I have got it on him it is not sore anymore!!, anyway I am still injecting Baytril and Depocillan as well
