Is this recommended?
I've been using the paper-based stuff but it gets all over the place, so I thought I'd try the wood based litter.
Haz has just caught Jamie possibly trying to eat one of the pellets, but she's not sure... can anyone offer any advice?
ALSO... how big should a dwarf lop be at 11 weeks? She has quite an elongated body, and I'm wondering whether she's not a dwarf at all...

Which paper based are you using? I find Yesterday's News [unperfumed] is the best as it's quite heavy so it doesn't get everywhere.
I am not a fan of wood based litter as in the UK it's generally made of pine which is bad for the liver and respiratory tract when animals are constantly exposed to it. I have to use it sometimes for the buns when I can't get the Yesterday's News - I think it's ok as long as they're in a well ventilated area but it definitely is not my first[or 2nd or 3rd] choice but sadly it's that or clay cat litter [no no] around here sometimes!
I also find pelleted wood litter is a LOT more messy than the paper based and the wood based just turns into soggy sawdust when it's weed on :(

sooty (a dwarf lop) at 10 weeks was about 8 - 10 inches long when hopping around but not fully stretched. He's now about 14 - 16 inches at 21 weeks. The vets can't seem to make up his mind if he'll get bigger. One says expect a big growth spurt, another when he was 16 weeks said he wouldn't get much bigger.

The paperbased stuff we're using is by Bob Martin - it's like grey recycled litter. It does the job, but it really does go all over.
Do you recommend I discontinue use of the wooden litter? It is quite strong smelling, it's actually making my eyes water :?

I personally only use it for emergencies when I can't get anything else. I don't think it is great for animals to be exposed to that smell all the time but of course it's your decision to make.
P.S. Dwarf lops aren't actually a very 'dwarf' breed as I discovered - my first bun Jessica was a dwarf lop and she must have been 2.5-3kg! The mini lops are the smaller ones :)

Well I caught Jamie trying to eat some, so I have changed it over now... back to the messy paper based :( Oh well, it's a small price to pay :D
Lol, I think she's going to be BIG... my other bun, Kitt, is a 10 week old mini lop... and she is tiny, SO cute :D :D :D

If you want something less messy I definitely recommend Yesterday's News :)

I've only managed to find one online site who sell this product... if you go to google.co.uk and type in 'Yesterday's News Litter' it should bring up the shop... it's about £4-£6 for a 4.5kg bag I think....

I hadn't until I looked on the Yesterday's News website yesterday and it's their only listed UK supplier. I've been recommended to use them before now but it's slipped my mind until now! I'm going to order myself as many of the big sacks as I can fit in my spare wardrobe  I'll never have to lug those :censored: sacks home again!! YAY!!

Thanks for the website.. :D
I usually get a 30litre bag of wood based litter. What sort of size is a 30kg bag of yesterdays news?? It would cost about the same but not sure if its alot less or not:? Dunno why fussypuss wood based litter isnt measured in weight:?

Not sure, AFAIK the biggest YN bag is 13.6kg. In pet shops YN is usually the same price as a similar sized bag of wood pellets. YN is a LOT better to use than wood based pellets - it's not bad for your animal like most wood based litter and it's more absorbent, plus it doesn't turn into sawdust when it's peed on! Can't rate it highly enough :)

Have just ordered some Yesterdays news!! Will post a review when we've tried it! Know what you mean about the Wood Based stuff turning to powder once its wet - not good for indoor bunnies.
