  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

anyone got a bunny with hay fever???

Our Busby has hay fever and he sneezes his way all through spring and summer, bless his cotton socks! He gets long lasting anti-histamine injections from the vet and is due another one soon. I was just wondering if anyone else has a wabbit with hay fever? It seems an awful mean thing for a bunny to suffer from!

My vet thinks Molly has it, as all last summer he was a bit snuffly and there was no other cause. He never suggested any treatment though, apart from putting a dab of a olbas oil on his paws. But he seems to have been ok so far this summer. *fingers crossed*

oooh, I might try the olbas oil thing, I was wondering if there was anything alternative we could try!

We had to try 3 different courses of anti-biotics before getting to the diagnosis of hay fever! Poor buzz sneezes upto 20 times in a row sometimes!

Blueberry muffin had hayfever a couple of summers ago . it only affected his eyes though .

we found out it was a shrub in my garden that caused it and it stopped when we moved it away from his hutch .

yes!

I took him to the vet to get his sneezing and slightly runny nose checked out. Was very indignant about having a themometer up his bum and no sign of the snuffles. It's not really bad but if it continues, I might try that injection.

The same with Diabolo, but my vet hasn't offered any medication else than corticoid, and I'm not very fond of it. But if it helps him feel better...
