Volunteering for a rescue

raine

Warren Veteran
Theo's thread about rescues has prompted me to start this new thread. If anyone has any time to volunteer, it would be great. Even if you only had one day or a few hours you could help with any of the following:

clean out hutches
socialize any bunnies
fundraise
take photos for their websites
create a website for a rescue
help with vet visits
do a car boot

If any rescues would like specific skills, please ask for them as we might be able to match them. Alternatively, if you have any time and don't have a local rescue, why not post on here.

Caroline from The rabbit residence has 80 rabbits and is desperate for any help. Even if you are not in her area, you could volunteer as a one off.

I have three months starting next week of pretty much doing nothing, I'll be bored stiff and Although im looking for a job, i'll have plenty of time to help at rescues, just none near here, or none that need help round here :(

Maybe there's a rescue that needs a rabbit care leaflet and you could write it for them. Or something else that you could do at home, fundraising ideas, etc..

Well if anyone local to me, what's to come and help me, I don't mind. I don't "need" help as such, but it's always nice to have company, when doing the bunny stuff. I'll get the beers in :D .

   Caroline from The Rabbit Residence Rescue is over run at the moment with buns and could do with any kind of help !!

Thanks Diane

BunnyDownload Festival at Tree's then:lol:

Great Idea Raine, this could do with its own section so that Rescues can find it easily and ask if they need help:D :D beside the travel requests would be good;)

Not sure if this helps rescues in anyway but a few years ago when my eldest daughter was about to do her 2 week experience in Septemeber it was really hard trying to find a place for her as you have to find the places yourself now:roll: But she would of loved to have done her 2 week work experience at Tracy's rescue but we are too far apart:cry: I do know that business's have to insure the kids for the two weeks and not sure how much this would be to a rescue who does not have public liability insurance but this would be ideal for rescues who coould do with 2 weeks of having help, even if it is to give the hutches a lick of paint in readiness for the winter months or general help in maintenance of runs etc;) There are quite a few 16 year olds that intend on going to college and uni to do the course to be a vet or vet nurse so I would imagine that many would enjoy there work experience in a rescue.

I had a young girl at our vets last year on work experience, she was training to be a vet nurse as she did not make the grades to go to uni to become a vet so this would be an ideal opportunity for 16 year olds as well as helping the rescues;)

That would be a good idea Denny with work experience.

Also a great offer from Karly about helping with websites.

Its a shame you are not close to a rescue that needs some help Becks as you would be great. Anyone want to collect Becki to go to the Rabbit Residence for the day:D

 We need help laying loads of slabs and putting up posts and stringing mesh for runs

Fundraisers would be good too :D

With 126 rabbits and 70 or so guinea pigs we have lots of poo to shift.

There are always more hutches to clean, water bottles to fill, guinea pigs to bath, critters to socialise etc etc.

We could not manage without our wonderful team of volunteers.

No beer here though :?

we are always pleased to have people fundraising for us ...

and we are desperate for someone to take rubbish (rabbit muckings )to the tip ...we just cant keep up with the stuff:? :(

got a 4 long haired buns in today and these are gonna need some grooming :?

Becki the Rabbit Residence is absolutely miiiiiiiles from you, in Hertfordshire about an hour from London

She's going to be even busier from tomorrow because my four are going there for boarding for a few weeks while we move house

But I am moving about 20 minutes closer to there so hopefully when things have settled down, I will be able to get there to help out more often :D

Angie have AA'd it, roughly 45 minutes away. Could I get the train? :? Actually I could ask Dad to take me if hes off work. Definately want help though dont you? Not imposing myself on you   x
