  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

just trimmed nails and kind've worried (i'm new)

hello everyone,
i'm new to the forums. My name's Jessica. I'm 20 and i have two bunnies--Jack and Hazel. Hazel is about 3 years old...Jack is almost 2.

anyways. I just trimmed their nails because they had gotten really long and i'm kind've worried about hazel. i cut one of her nails too short by accident and it bled a bit. (I feel so bad) She seems okay now though. (is eating a salad) should i be worried about infection or anything?

oh, and here's a couple pics (i only have 2 on my computer right now. I'll get better ones soon):

Hello  Welcome to RU.

I wouldn't worry at all about the nail thats bleeding - Hazel will probably lick it and keep it clean herself. Have a look in a couple of days and hopefully it should look clean and dry.

Don't feel too bad about it - it happens to us all now and then!

I've done it a couple of times:oops: . i keep some wound powder about for emergencies & just dab that on. keep an eye on the toe & make sure there's no infection, for next few days:D
