Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can males have dewlaps?

...cos I think Charlie has one. it's a little flap of skin just under his chin... not sure if it's just a fat roll (he's not obese or anything) of if he's got some gland problem. He's got a round belly when lying down but but I definitely don't think he's overweight...

any ideas?

I have to say to that I have read in rabbit books that only the female bunny has a duelap but i did not know that it developed when their hormones have just started kicking in.

does that mean my rabbit that has been only just spayed. she will lose her due lap ? as she will not have her hormones their any more .
and could look like a boy rabbit with out 1.

please say if my rabbit is going to lose her due lap as i need to know. my rabbit liked me rubbing this on either side of her. :(
funny i know but she is a funny rabbit to in charictor. ;)

I think boys can have them but usually not so large unless they get over weight. Spaying may make her dewlap reduce but I doubt it will go alltogether :)
