  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Good evening :)
Hope you're all fine and had a funky day. I have spent the day at the opening ceremony of our new museum. Charles, Camilla and Queen Sonia of Norway popped in for a visit ;)

Anyway on grooming Okley tonight I noticed she is matted underneath. Now she has hasn't been here that long and never sits still for long. She is matted near her rear end. We managed to snip one off bit the others will take a while to do.e

Do any of you have a secret trick to this? I tried tempting her with spinach which she loves but when laid back she goes crazy.
Oakley is a gian ball of fluff and not only is her main huge the rest of her body is super fluff!!!

Well as ever your advice is greatly appreciated.

Could you put her rear paws on the floor, then just hold her top end up agains't your body, so it's like your exposing her belly, or will she not let you do that either?

Otherwise, I don't know what to suggest, Leila is not keen on being laid back, but she will for a short time while I check her over, and Joey doesn't seem that bothered as I've done it every day since I got him as a baby.
