  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Barney has started sneezing!

Literally only just, so I'm going to keep an eye on him but I have noticed his nose is wet...not with white discharge just wet.
Bearing in mind I was told a few months ago he has slight spurs, I'm going to get him into the vets on Tuesday. Fingers crossed its not that and he just got a bit of hay tickling his nose!

Isabel do you use Gamston? Best for teeth..and i'm up there 11 am on weds!

I do use the awsome G! I'm gonna try and get in on Wednesday morning so I may well see you although I will have to be there fairly early...you are always welcome for a cuppa :D

do you use central heating? If so, what's the last time the dust inside is clean? As dust circulates around the house can cause sneezing as well

Could it be something as simple as a new hay or litter? Hope it's nothing serious.

I think it probably is that. I havn't noticed him sneezing since and his nose seems to have dried up too.

He seems ok in himself as well and is eating etc completly fine. I think I'm going to invest in some good quality hay because its just remininded me really that it's only a matter of time if he doesn't munch his heart out on course hay and I don't want to put him or me through that stress.
