  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

does any one know which is the best ear drops to buy for a rabbit & if i can buy them on the internet.
Thanks :D

I would not advise putting ANY ear drops into a Buns ear without first consulting your Vet. If you put anything into a Buns ear and the eardrum is not intact Bun will be in BIG trouble

Thanks jane but Honey as problems with her ear & as to have them cleaned out quite a lot. i take her to the vets to have this done but they use the drops for Dogs & i don't like that at all, so i want to get some drops which are good for a rabbit so i can take them with me for the vet to use instead, asthe vet puts the drops in to Honeys ears then cleans them out, i have been told that the drops for dogs sre not good for rabbits.

Is it Canaural? These are the medicated drops for ear mites and can be used in any animal. If its the cleaner 'Leo' or 'Oticlean', they are licsensed for dogs and cats but are very mild and can be used in any animal also. If its drops just to clean the ear then Oticlean would be fine, thats what we use :)

it is the leo for dogs & cats, the vet as to put them in to her ears to be able to clean them out as she gets a lot of black stuff down in her ears & she shakes her head so much.
Have you ever cleaned your rabbits ear at all as the vet as said i can do it myself, but i am a bit worried i might hurt her or push down the stuff i'm trying to get out ???
