  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bald patch question

norah

Warren Scout
The vets shaved Norah's tummy when she had her op done end January. The fur has grown back now but is still patchy; strangely, its fully grown around the scar but there are two bald patches where it doesnt grow at all, you can see the skin and just a bit of fluff. As if the hair follicles are damaged. Is it something to worry about?

helloo, my bunny also had a bald head where he had his op to remove his abscess. His head is very patchy at the min, the scar from where the hole was is covered now with fur but he still has tufts of hair poking out everywhere (it looks quite funny!). But there is also pink bare bits by his neck where no hair has grown at all (it sounds worse than it actualy is!). I wouldn't worry about it im sure it will grow back eventually. :D

If you are worried next time you go to the vets just mention about the hair so they can take a quick look at it but i am sure its just a case of some bits growing quicker than others.

xx

Well thanks, i thought probably no reason to panic, just strange how some bits grow at a different rate :?
