  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bromelain

What bromelain tablets do people use, and do your buns like them? I'm giving mine Oxbow at the moment, as they sometimes get hairy poos, and are constantly getting stasis (although I don't think that is the cause). I also give them papaya chunks from Bunny Basics.

They hate fresh pineapple, and I'm syringing enough drugs into them without syringing pineapple juice in too. I just want to try to get their digestion as good as possible.

i have the oxbow tablets for mine.. ive stopped giving them to them regularly now though as they have been eating loads more hay, dried grass, and fresh grass lately and their poos have grown so much they havent had any problems with fur blockage and they have all been moulting too!
Can you reduce their pellets any further or are they not on pellets? Mine have been so much better since i hardly give them any pellets as they eat so much more hay etc

They are already on hardly any pellets - poos are big and healthy looking (when they aren't in stasis mode!!), but with some hairy ones too.

oh ok well thats good then :D
Mine love the oxbow ones btw and like yours they wont eat fresh pineapple either (well Nala will but she'll eat anything!)
