  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Costs vary A LOT between different vets but at my vets its around £40 for males and £60-£70 for females and then it will be somewhere aroun £30 for vaccinations. Boys can be neutered from around 12 weeks and girls from around 6 months.

My vet charges around £60 for a female spay and £50 for a male castrate, vaccs are £15 each for myxi and VHD. :)

My vet charges £30 for either a spay or a neuter :D Vaccs are £11.75 each :D Hope this helps but prices vary so much :?

My vet charges £50 for a neuter, £70 for a spay and the myxi and vhd vaccs come to about £20 per bun

You can neuter boys when their testicles drop, between 4 and 6 months and girls at 6 months.

Start saving now

I use the same vet :D Like others have said tho, costs vary so much and not just from area to area. The vet closest to me charges £61 for a neuter, the clinic steph and I use is about 15minutes drive away and half the price. It's definately worth ringing round and talking to people in your area and finding the most rabbit savy vet possible :D

i phoned my vet for a quote tonight.
it will cost £44 to neuter a boy
vaccinations -vhd £13
-mixi £13
i didnt think that was too bad :)

My vet charges £60 for female spey and £55 for male castration. I pay for both jabs at same time and its £38 but the jabs have to be given about 2 weeks apart.
