Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bonded bunnies neutering?

Ok I have two girls Hunni and Missi who are yet to be neutered they are just coming up to a year. I am scared about doing this as I am worried they will not survive or they will loose their bond.

Is is best to get them done at the same time? What can I do to make sure they will be ok.

I have been putting this off for so long but if I have to get it done I want to do it sooner rather then later!

Hi. Get them done at the same time. That way they can go together, share the same crate at the surgery and come home to recover together. The bond won't be broken and they will provide each other with comfort.

ARC keep all their bonded bunnies together when they visit the vet for any visit from vaccinations to operations. We believe keeping them together helps them recover quicker and prevents the breaking of the bond. I have never had an issue with doing this.

Obviously if one was being agresive or continually humping the other I would consider separating them, as yet I have not had to do this.

I got Harley done yesterday, It is the first time he has been away from Honey, I was a bit scared of putting them back together incase thier bond may of broke with him smelling like the vets, They could not stop licking each other, They wont let each other out thier sights now lol :D
