  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
hi there ive got 4 french lops 3 doe's and 1 buck, 1 girl is 15 months old and the other 3 are 2 sisters and a brother,im wanting to have them all done when they are old enough, obviously i can have the older doe done now, does anyone know how much im looking at paying roughly? does anyone else live in the nottinghamshire area that has had their bunnies done? thanks :D

There was a thread on how much people pay for this the other day in rabbit chat :D

I paid £160 for a spay today and £130 for a spay a few weeks ago but looking at what other people pay im going to ask the vet for a breakdown of the cost. Trips neuter cost £45 :D

I'd estimate you are looking at about £80-£100 per spay and £60-£80 for the castrate. Big Buns often need a different type of anaesthetic.

I was lucky my with my Frenchies my vet charged me £30 for my doe and the same for my buck :D Prices vary so much. I do go to another vet when mine cant fit me in and it is more £39 neuter and £55 spay.
