Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Patchy Fur

Young Bun
Hello
My bun Mavis (6 month nethie) has recently developed patchy fur on her flanks. I'm hoping to find out the reason for it. I don't think its just a moult, although I'm rather hoping it is. The alternatives as far as I can see are: Rupert, her husbandbun, is a bit territorial sometimes and does lunge at her sometimes. I'm not too worried about this as they get on very well most of the time, he never hurts the skin, just seems to take tufts of fur.
Or mites, what do I look for if it is mites. I am planning to take her to the vets in the next couple of days but it would be good to be armed with some info.
Any help gratefully received

If it's mites, you'll be able to see what looks like dandruff in the fur.

When I groomed her on sunday she did have white bits in the fur that came off.
Does that mean a trip to the vets? Or is there an "over the counter" remedy for them.
Thanks
Ness
PS I  the pic of your nethie! Is that Squidgy?
