The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. hey guys,

Having just put my rabbits in the run iv noticed that one of my buns has a slightly runny eye which is a bit sticky. Its just in the one eye, iv cheked him over and he doesn't have a runny nose but im a bit worried as to whats the matter??

Any help much appreciated!

xx

Hi! I've had this with Humphrey. He's had a touch of conjunctivitis, but we're not sure why, whether it was hay dust. I'd pop your bun to the Vet to get some eye drops. You can also bathe it in cooled, boiled water. Claire x

Hi my bun also had it recently, slightly different to minilops bun, he had an infection and had blocked tear ducts! he was given baytril twice a day for 5 days afterwards and had his tear ducts flushed an he seems much better now.

My Fifi has this right now too  She got a grass seed from the hay in her eye and it caused an infection which made her have a sticky eye. It only cost me £20 for her to have her tear duct flushed and it made such a difference really quickly

What does the fur look like around your bunnys eye? Paddys is all flat type thing and I have been trying to bathe it everyday to make it look normal!!

well when she had a weepy eye her fur around it was stained and sticky. Now she is being treated and had her tearduct flushed it is drying up.
Best thing if it is sticky is to take her to a vet where they will hopefully be able to tell you what the problem is.
Im sure teeth problems can cause a weepy eye as well as infections so could be all sorts of things.

hey guys,

checked on molly today and his eye is much better, its stopped weeping. I rang the vets just incase and they said to wash it in cool boiled water but they said if its stopped weeping something probably just irritated it! Thanks for the advice though! :D xx

Good news about Molly's eye! I'd just keep an EYE (old joke on here!! ) on it, as sometimes it can be intermittent with eye problems, as I've found out recently. Claire x
