I've done a very naughty thing!!

Mama Doe
All my (5) rabbits are rescues but I bought my first rabbit Leon from a garden centre  . Sadly he died in June

I love my 5 rescues to bits but I have never had a bunny as friendly and loving as Leon. Anyway, I went to aforementioned garden centre yesterday evening and there were some little lionheads there. I asked the woman about them and explained I had had a lionhead from them before. She said that these babies were related to Leon and I had a mad moment and bought 1!!

Don't be angry everyone! I do prefer getting rescue rabbits but I couldn''t resist having one of Leons cousins/nieces. She's absolutely lovely, 8 wks old. I've called her Bridget.

Of course now I will just have to adopt a boy rabbit from the local rescue to be her friend when she's older and has been spayed!

you're in trouble now, toffee!
we got 3 rescue then 2 bred (giant and french lop) because after weeks of hunting couldn't find suitable rescue ones. we did redeem ourselves by getting 4 more rescues though.

Well done for fessing up, I have known people who have lied about where their rabbit came from for fear of being yelled at, I'm not going to as I'm sure you feel a bit guilty anyway, but sometimes they are so hard to resist aren't they?

Pictures please, I love lionheads

I was in my local petshop yesterday and they have the most gorgeous mini-lops in and I must say it took an iron will to walk out again. They don't sell many animals (generally have 2 rabbits and 2 guineapigs in at a time) and have a very slow turnover rate - they've had a male black rex in since early Jan (born Nov) I'm waiting for her to be giving him away for free, I'm sure it'll come as no one's going to want him now he's older :( He's gorgeous and dead cheeky, she lets him out morning and night for a run round the shop and now he's figured out how to get out of the cage himself

I must resist, I must resist

Awwww, WE WANT PICCIES!!!

You've done more than enough by already by rescuing five!

Here here

All bunnies need a home - even ones in pet shops i consider to be rabbits in need!!!

Dont worry about it not being from a rescue - we wont judge!!! All rabbits need a home at the end of the day... although some in need more than others.

Never mind, at least you have given a bun a home.

Piccies please.

I was naughty last night - I had treacle sponge and custard - and I am supposed to be being good - lost 19 lbs so far.

If its love its meant to be, I got Sam from a pet shop because I just fell head over heels!

And it sounds like you deserved that treacle Baileydonut :)

aww, don't worry, as missblondebunny said , all rabbits deserve homes :thumb: at least you will be rescuing another :) if I somehow managed to find teh relation of one of my past rabbits (which would be V. hard) i would snatch it up :)

I have bought buns from a BREEDER in the past so I'll be before you in the queue for the firing squad!!

Sorry you lost Leon

Why do you think you'd before in the queue? I think going to a good breeder is infinitely better than petshops who tend to use breeders who churn out rabbit after rabbit

Joey was from a breeder, but I was so ignorant back then that I didn't know rabbit rescues existed until I came here! I thought there was the RSPCA and that was it!

I don't know if the woman was a breeder, it was the OH's mum's friend, and she heard a story that doe's calm down if they're bred, as their doe was apparently a bit of a grump. I never saw it grumpy tho. :? Joey is a grump though!

I'll be adopting a Honeybunny on Sunday, yay! :D

In fairness, this garden centre does look after their animals well. The bunnies aren't in little cages like most places, they live in a 4ft by 6ft run and are quarantined and monitored closely for a week before they're sold. The sales woman has house rabbits of her own so they know what they're talking about. And the breeder of these lionheads seems to look after them well - the babies are really well socialised. I haven't had a problem handling Bridget and I didn't have a problem with Leon either. They appear to be quite used to the company of people.

She's lovely guys! I don't have a digital camera but will post pics when I get my film developed!!

i had to fess up too..ive got a baby frenchie from the breeder who bred my bertie..
