Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Do rabbits get diarrhea (sp)

Just cleaned out there cage 30 mins ago and since then my best guess is Amber as the babies are in there hidy house has had some ver squishey poo's but one of her poo's is abit liquidy looks like diarrhea to me. They get there pellets, spring greens and abit of carrot in a hanger and unlimited hay all day. Is this most likely caused by the veg or some sort of sickness?

Where the squishy poos like bunches of grapes? If so then maybe she is eating too much other stuff to eat those poos which is what they normally do.
Im afraid i dont really know what to suggest as ive never had a rabbit with a litter but hopefully someone else will be able to advise you better

Yes they were like grapes but also liquidy aswell, have cut out the veg for tonight though and may keep her of the veg for a couple of days and see if theres any improvment.

I think your right stay of green till they harden up. you can't afford runny poo going into warmer weather as you'll be tempting fly strike

One of the major causes of totally liquid poos or totally soft poos is the lack of fiber.

If the poos is just sticky, that's fine, as it can be night time poos (the one they eat back). But if the poos doesn't even form the shape of a cicular object, and it happens a few times non stop, then it's the total lack of fiber.

If the bunny has poos 6 times a day, and 1 or 2 of those times are soft poos, that's because of too much veggies, not enough fiber.

My last bunny was like that, just won't eat the hay. So about once a day, the poos are soft.

If it's a lack of fiber, get a bunch of hay, and put it near her mouth, say a few inch, since their nature is to bite anything that gets in their way, they'll bite down the hay, and in the process of doing so, eat some of it.

Did you say the babies are in with her and so you are unsure who has the diarrhoea? Are the babies 8/9 weeks old and in with mum? If so, I think they are too young to be eating veg (thought you can try a tiny amount from 12 weeks, but perhaps someone can confirm this).

We often discuss what we can feed our bunnies but equally, in my opinion, we should be discussing recommended quantities of veg. For now, you need to stop all veg and feed loads of hay until it has settled down. Are the bunnies well in themselves and eating and drinking normally at the moment.

Yes they are in with mum who gets seperate veg and the babies are about 8 weeks and get 1/4 a carrot between them and 1/4 a leaf of spring green chopped up. They are all fine eating, drinking and they eat a load of hay, they have a big rack that i fill each morning and night and they eat it non stop so no worries there. I have stopped all veggies for now including for mam aswell just incase shes eating to much. I am confiscating there veg till poos are back to normal and are on just hay and there daily pellets for now, still some squishy poos this morning but no liquidy ones.
