Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ebuny back from his op

Ok I have been so worried about Ebuny. He has been neutered today and I have picked him up. I am worried as he keeps cleaning his area from the op and trying to eat but isn't. Should I worry or just accept tonight he will not get back to normal?

He is a house bunny so is indoors anyway and is moving about.

Keep him warm and in a quiet spot and just make sure you have his water and food around him to tempt him to nibble at something. If he is moving about that is good as it keeps things ticking inside!!

Try tempting Ebuny with some grated carrot. Some hand picked grass and dandelion leaves may get him eating too.
Did the Vet use internal sutures and/or glue to close the wound? If so he should not be able to nibble the stitches out.
Has he wee'd and poo'd yet?
He is bound to be a bit quieter than usual but as the evening progresses he should perk up and start to nibble at his food

Well I haven't looked but last time it was glued with external stitches. As I need to have the stitches out in a fortnight I guess it is whats happened this time too. I was working so my bf took him in.

Apparenlty the vet thought he was an amazing little boy and was really impressed how easy he was to check over. The calmest and friendliest bunny ever. I bet she says that to them all. Still make me feel good though. He has eaten a bit of grass and drank. He's had a wee but no poo yet.
