Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

basil is a bunny who was bought to me with bad injuries through fighting there is a previous post on his story.
had the all clear from the vet on monday he went to the most wonderful home on tuesday now ive received a call from his new owner this morning to say he couldnt use his back legs he,d fallen over on his side and couldnt get up i cant believe this has happened he was fine im going to go and get him shortly and take him back to my vet
any ideas what this could be?
is it signs of a stroke?
he,s only a baby and bn through so much im so worried!!!!

Oh poor Basil

If it was rapid onset paralysis it could be a spinal injury.
EC is another possibility, although hind leg weakness rather than acute paralysis is a more likely with EC
Another possibility is a potassium deficiency ('floppy bunny syndrome')

I really hope the Vet can get Basil better

sounds like a stroke to me, do you know if the one side of his face ie: his eyes have any movement? this is how my first bunny went and my previous vets suspected a stroke due to his paralysis down the one side of his body hence the flopping over on his side :( is he at the vets?

Basil

Poor Basil. I hope whatever it is the vet can fix, he's been through such an ordeal already.

Thoughts are with basil and you Bunnyrun!!
