  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

A Vet Nurse at the surgery you use should be able to trim Oscars nails :)

okthanks also as any1 got sum tips 4 me on how to clen his ikle buum hes had a bit of diohrea (sp) n hes a bit messy

How old is he? Get some babywipes and clean his bum really well, the unscented ones are better.

Diarrhoea is nasty, make sure he has plenty to drink and keep an eye out to make sure he is eating well. Has anything in his diet changed? Any new veggies? If you got him from a rescue, do you know if hes had any past problems?

iv changd his food from pets at home to excel.......naybe its that he drinks plenty n he hasnt had anything different apart from the excel stuff

Maybe you changed his food too quickly? It's supposed to be done gradually, over a week or so.

If you dont know how to do his nails yourself, then get the vet nurse to show you and you can see if you feel confident to try it yourself sometimes. I'm OK to do Muppet's front feet but cant get him to stay still long enough to do the back ones, even one at a time!
