  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Benny's gone

Benny died last night. We had to take him back to the vets and leave him in overnight but the vet rang this morning to say he's died. I'm sitting at work crying my eyes out. I can't believe it.

I am so sorry. It's absolutely heartbreaking to lose a much loved bunny  Argh... I'm getting teary just thinking when I lost each of my boys. Sending lots of vibes for you - maybe you could try and get out of work and go home early today? xx

That's so sad for you and your partner. You tried hard for him

Binky free Benny. Look after all our bunny friends at the big bridge.

We are both in pieces - we miss him so much. Reading everyone's kind words really means a lot to us at the moment - thank you. I've just posted a Rainbow Bridge message for him.

Benny's home now in a little cardboard box and we're unsure what to do next. We could bury him in the garden where he liked to sit under a bush although we're not staying here forever and I don't want to leave him with strangers. I know that must sound silly.

We'd prefer to have him cremated and put his ashes in a planter that we can take with us wherever we move to but we can't find any local pet crematoriums. Does anyone know of anywhere in or around Leicestershire?

It's all happened so quickly I can't believe we're having to think of such things.
