something yummy in the hay !

I bought a couple of big bales of hay some time ago, and have been feeding it to my rabbits each day

recently I found some unusual (for me, not being a gardener) looking dried plants in the bale. they are dark green almost black, with long stems, of upto 30cm, smallish shrivelled leaves of about 2-4 cm across, the stems are about 3 mm in diameter and woody

at first I took them out, not wanting to poison my boys and girls without knowing what I was feeding them, but one time I left some in by mistake...

the rabbits love them ! even more than veggies and bananas

sorry for the vague description....anybody have a clue as to what it is ?

forgot to mention...the stems and leaves don't have any nettles or thorns

tried umbelliferae, but the leaves appear broader than umbelliferae and the stems are really thin
