  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Honey not eating

Hi everyone, Honey as not really been eating since last Saturday, Sunday she ate some toast & little bits of pellets but no fruit or veg...on monday i took her to the vets to have her teeth looked at & they filed them down & said the back ones was still sharp & she does not eat that night take her back, i know she would not eat, which she did not, but she tried to, so i took her back & they give her gas & did her back teeth, plus the injections for pain & to get her gut moving, but she ate nothing again last night & did'nt want to know me.
I took her back this morning & she as had the same injections again today plus the vet as give her the pilacillen one as her absecc as started yet again, they have come up red on both hocks, i think it is because she is just sitting & not moving around. is there anything i can do to help her at all, any advice please as i am getting really woried for her, she is just laying there & not interested at all

aaawwww poor Honey sending vibes and nose rubs hoping she feels better soon

I dont really know what to suggest other than to call your vet again and have a chat with them. Are they use to caring for bunnies? There are lots of people on here who will give you lots of advice soon once they read your thread.

Is she drinking?

Are you syringe feeding her? This really is ESSENTIAL. As she is now on Penicillin she should also have some probiotics such as Fibreplex or Bio-Lapis. If she is not drinking she should also have sub-cutaneous fluids.

Poor Honey, I do hope she perks up soon

When Bobby was like this, he had two days of the gut stimulant, syringe feeding etc. The vet then gave liquid parafin, which worked a treat :D
