  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

noticed when putting Sunrise to bed tonight, she has a sore patch on her side, on lifting her i felt in her stomach a lot of knobbly little lumps, felt like a small bunch of grapes. she is eating, drinking, cleaning herself, no probs around her bottom as is playing as normal. i am going to ring vets in morning but just wondered if anybody had any ideas in the meantime-

the sore patch looks crusty, i have bathed it with some salt water, i checked her all over and no signs of other sores, it looks like eczma!! she does live with three other bunnies and they are all ok and there has been no signs of fighting. she is about four years old and has not been spayed. the lumpy bits seem to be in her stomach towards the back end.

on putting sunrise to bed, i noticed her nipple has got a swelling underneath and she is producing a milky substance from it, she also has a sore on her foot which has produced a thick white substance, i have cleaned her foot and put bandages and tape around to keep it clean until i get her to the vets tomorrow morning. i am very worried about her now

Hello  There are a few possible causes of the lumps you can feel. It may just be poo moving its way along, she may be pregnant (i'm not sure if you have any other rabbits) or it could be uterine tumours. Have you noticed any blood in her urine?
Her sore foot sounds like it may be producing pus, which could be due to sore hocks, she will need to see a vet to get antibiotics + painkillers ASAP, as this can be a serious condition.
I hope your bunny is better soon :D

Hi, have been to vets today, Sunrise has mastitis and an infection in her feet and side and has been prescribed baytril, i have moved her away from the three she was living with and hutched her inside so i can keep a closer eye on her and monitor her eating and drinking which at the moment seem absolutely fine. hopefully she will be ok.
